Umbilo CPF on mission to bring smiles to little ones

The public is urged to donate new toys for the Umbilo CPF's charity drive which will see a children’s home gifted with toys this Christmas.

UMBILO CPF, in collaboration with local businesses and security companies, has embarked on a touching journey to bring smiles to the faces of children residing at a children’s home in Durban.

Dubbed the Toy Run, the drive appeals to the public to donate new toys. It will end on December 24, when the toys will be delivered to a local children’s home. The home accommodates 70 children aged 8–18.

“As the Umbilo CPF, we aim to enhance the Christmas experience for children’s homes in our community. We invite the community to contribute generously to our Toy Run which will gather toys and bring joy to the children residing there,” said the CPF’s Doug Mellish.

He added, “This is one of the CPF’s initiatives where we try to invest back into the community and help people in need. It is a first of many to come and we hope to include more children’s homes within the community in future. We dream of a community where everyone is happy – apart from crime-fighting, this initiative will see that dream become a reality.

“On the morning of December 24, we will transport the toys to the children’s home. Feedback will be provided thereafter.”

Fulham Bakery on 443 Lena Ahrens Road has been identified as the designated drop-off location, and pick-ups can be facilitated.
