Love your body
Get down to Glenwood Village on Saturday, 8 February at 09.00 for a morning of healthy active living and fitness demos. Local clubs and societies have been invited to set up tables throughout the centre to be able to share info and enthuse visitors to join their club. Entry is free and all are welcome. Event runs up until midday.
Cookies and fun
A fun and participative Valentine’s Cookie Icing Workshop takes place at the Pot and Kettle in Botha’s Hill on 8 February, from 10.00. Participants all get seven to eight baked biscuits, bags of royal icing and icing tools. Includes a cup of tea or coffee and a scone with toppings. To book call 071 411 6146.
Song and dance
St Johns with St Raphael Parish of Sydenham hosts a Valentine’s Dance on February 14 at 18:30. Music by Harry Coleman, DJ Delaine and Shaun Duval on sax and vocals.

Celebrate love, music, and connection this Valentine’s weekend with the highly anticipated On The Lawn Music Festival at Durban Botanic Gardens on Saturday, February 15. Taking to the stage is South Africa’s beloved singer-songwriter Matthew Mole, the internationally acclaimed indie-folk duo Hollow Coves from Australia and the talented twin brothers of Amistat. Durban Botanic Gardens is the place to be on Sunday, February 16. Get ready for some ’80s nostalgia with the Let’s Rock concert which will feature a mix of international legends such as Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey and Midge Ure (Ultravox / Visage), and top local acts with Just Jinjer, PJ Powers, and many more. The fabulous Belinda Dolphin will be on hand to sing a few ballads at the Kloof and Highway SPCA tea garden on Saturday, February 15. All the shops and eateries will be open to enjoy a fun morning out.
Ride the train
Celebrate Valentine’s Weekend with us on Sunday, February 16 from 08:00 to 16:00 at the Umgeni Steam Railway for fun steam rides at R80 per person.
Trains depart from Inchanga Station at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, noon, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00.
Tickets are only available at Inchanga Station on the day, no pre-booking.
Laugh your heart out
The iZulu Theatre at Sibaya has a great event on February 15 and 16 for anyone searching for the humour in having children, for the first or even second time. Get ready for Carvin H. Goldstone’s hilariously funny My New Debit Order. Tickets can be purchased through Webtickets at R200.

Animal lovers
For those who love the outdoors, and the SPCA’s dogs, there is a Sunday morning trail run on February 16 as a fundraiser for Kloof and Highway SPCA at Fig Tree Farm on Inanda Road. To enter go to www.naat.co.za. Late entries on the day from 07:00. 4km – R50, 8km – R100. Starts at 08:00.
Impala Ridge Farm and Paw Print rescue and rehoming are joining forces to present a delicious Valentine’s brunch on Saturday, February 15 from 09:00 until 11:00, to celebrate the joy of unconditional love we share with our rescue pets. Tickets cost R200. WhatsApp 060 685 0889 to book.
For the love of sport
Fig Tree Farm is hosting a padel tournament for couples on Saturday, February 15 from 15:00 until 19:00. The dress code is “Valentine’s” and there are lots of prizes to be won. R400 per player. Register on Playtomic.

A Valentine’s family picnic takes place on the corner of Masabalala Yengwa Avenue and Isaiah Ntshangase Road on Friday, February 14 from 18:00 to 20:00.
