Eden College’s maths whiz sets global stage ablaze
Eden Schools learner Daaruk Kumarasamy shines with top national and international maths competition achievements.
DAARUK Kumarasamy, a Grade Nine learner from Eden Schools Durban, continues to distinguish himself as one of the country’s outstanding young mathematicians. His talent and dedication have earned him achievements on local and global stages.
He secured first place in the UP Mathematics Competition (an initiative of the University of Pretoria). He further demonstrated his mastery by achieving first place in the SA Mathematics Olympiad (SAMO) this year.

Competing beyond his grade level, Daaruk earned second place and a silver medal in the FEMSISSA Mathematics Olympiad Grade 11 paper. His global reach was equally notable, achieving a Silver Certificate in the Vietnam International Applied Mathematics Competition (VIAMC).
Daaruk’s accomplishments reflect his exceptional ability and his hard work, curiosity, and passion for mathematics. He is described as a true inspiration to his school community, and the school is proud to celebrate his outstanding success.
