Two arrested for murder after fatal knife attack in Durban CBD

Two homeless suspects appeared in the Durban Magistrate's Court after allegedly stabbing another homeless man to death in the Durban CBD.

WHILE conducting routine patrols in the vicinity of Anton Lembede Street and J.N. Singh Street, members of a private security company reportedly observed two homeless men attacking another homeless man with a knife recently.

Kyle van Reenan of Ensure Security said, “Our Tactical Intervention Unit immediately intervened, securing and handcuffing the two suspects on scene. Emergency services and the SAPS were contacted immediately. Emergency medical services also attended, however the victim had sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on scene.”

SAPS Durban Central spokesperson Sergeant Zanele Khomo confirmed that a knife was recovered, a case of murder was opened on Wednesday morning, and the two suspects were arrested, and appeared in the Durban Magistrates’ Court today (March 5).
