Church marks 42nd anniversary with blood drive in Musgrave

Shincheonji Church marks its 42nd anniversary with a Durban blood drive campaign in partnership with SANBS to help combat national shortages.

Answering the national call to help address ongoing blood shortages, Shincheonji Church of Jesus is on a mission to save lives, one drop at a time. The community campaign coincides with the 42nd founding anniversary of the church, which was established in  March 1984 in South Korea.

After a successful campaign last weekend, the red revolution will launch this Saturday in Musgrave (SANBS) and Umlazi (SANBS). The blood drive is part of a long-standing partnership between Shincheonji volunteers and SANBS, established in 2022, committing the organisation to actively support national blood donation campaigns.

The church says the Durban blood drive campaign reflects the spirit of the anniversary by turning celebration into action.
“This anniversary is not only about looking back, but about giving back,” said Bongiwe Groupè, head of Shincheonji Volunteers in Durban.
“We believe faith must be shown through service, and saving lives through blood donation is one of the most meaningful ways to serve our community.”

According to organisers, the campaign is not limited to church members, but is intended as a call to the wider community.
“What better way to mark our anniversary than by becoming a pillar of strength to those in need,” Groupè added.  “We are inviting all members of the public to join us in saving lives. Blood donation is something everyone can take part in, and together we can make a real difference.”

The drive will start at 10:00 in Musgrave, and 12:00 in Umlazi.
