28th JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience honours three giants of South African contemporary dance
Three of South Africa’s most influential dance voices, PJ Sabbagha, Mamela Nyamza and Vincent Mantsoe, feature at the 28th JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience this year, each bringing decades of artistic courage and innovation to the Durban stage.
The UKZN’s Centre for Creative Arts presents the 28th JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience, a 13-day celebration of world-class contemporary dance from August 25 to September 6. This year’s festival is curated around the theme Choreographies of Activism: Moving Bodies as Disruptive Presencing.

Agatha Christie’s “The Hollow” | Westville Theatre Club
Do you have what it takes to solve the murder mystery of Agatha Christie’s “The Hollow” before the final curtain falls? Come watch the story unfold in front of your very eyes at Westville Theatre Club from August 21 until September 5.

Directed by Maya Olsen and Jill Sysum, this is one murder mystery you don’t want to miss! The event offers a dinner theatre style – bring own food and drinks.

Colour Confidence Make-up Masterclass at The Pavilion – Saturday, August 22
Ahead of the start of spring, Kryolan Professional Make-up will host three interactive masterclass demos on seasonal make-up colours, styles and trends at the Pavilion Fountain Court on Saturday, August 22.

Spring heralds fresh energy, a new colour palette and the discarding of winter woolies. In preparation of the change in season and in wardrobe, Kryolan Professional Make-up will host three inspiring, interactive sessions where professional artists will demonstrate practical techniques to incorporate colour into one’s make-up routine in a way that feels wearable, modern and unique.
The team will teach participants how to confidently wear colour in everyday make-up; colour placement techniques to enhance one’s features; easy ways to incorporate colour into eye and lip looks; professional application tips and techniques and product recommendations. The masterclass times are 10:00 – 11:30, 12:30 – 14:00 and 15:00 – 16:30. For tickets visit kryolan.com.

Durban City Orchestra
The Durban City Orchestra presents their second concert series of the year, following on from their successful homage to music from film and musical theatre. The second programme of curated bouquet of themes from stage and screen productions will be performed in Women’s Month, at St Agnes on August 23 at 15:30 and St Thomas on August 30 at 15:00.

Friends of Music presents Violin Duos

Friends of Music presents Violin Duos on Sunday, August 23 at 14:30 at the Durban Jewish Centre. It features KZN Philharmonic violinists Evgeny Zhadanov and Refiloe Olifant, and pianist Andrew Warburton, with a programme of Bériot, Boccherini, and Frolov jazz-baroque pieces.
