REF KZN 30/5/1/3/2/11237MP Notice is hereby given of a Public Participation Process in terms of Chapter 6 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations 982 (2014), as amended in April 2017, promulgated in terms of Section 24 of the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 (NEMA). Project Background: Zingi L Security (Pty) Ltd (ZLS) has lodged an application with the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources to undertake mining activities for sand and gravel on portion of the remaining extent of Inanda Location 4675FT, within eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality., KwaZulu Natal Province. Legal Context: The Mining Permit application is lodged in terms of Section 27 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002 (Act No.28 of 2002) (MPRDA). Availability of the Draft Basic Assessment Report: In accordance with the EIA Regulations, the Draft Basic Assessment Report (BAR) and the Environmental Management Programme (EMPr) will be made available for public review and comment for a period of 30 days. BGES will notify Interested and Affected Parties once the Draft BAR/EMPr becomes available. BGES Pty Ltd has been appointed as an independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner by ZLC to conduct the environmental authorisation process for the Mining Permit application.
