Glenwood swimmers return home

Medals galore for Glenwood High School swimmers.

A NUMBER of Glenwood’s top swimmers recently returned from a successful tour to Ireland where they participated in the Irish National Age Group Championships.

Glenwood’s swimming has seen a resurgence under the guidance of national coach Graham Hill. Along with a number of top KZN coaches (like Debbie McLeod), Hill has guided the Glenwood boys through their Elite Sport’s Academy to some noticeable achievements.

In total, seven Glenwood boys made the trip to Ireland and came back with some impressive achievements. Dayne Odendaal received two bronze medals and a silver while also reaching two finals. Dayne also came 4th overall in the 200m Butterfly which included the senior age groups.

Kevin Bargate also excelled and received five medals which included four gold and one silver in the 14-15 age group.

Tristan Long made the 16 and over age group semi final in the 50m breaststroke while Tyler Gentle made the 200m Butterfly final and was placed 10th overall.
