Pre-season match good practice for Quins

UMBILO Harlequins first team played a pre-season practice match against an invitational side from Newlands East / Kensea at the weekend.

Seamer Warren Jordan bowled immaculately claiming five wickets. Paceman Sylvester Sauli sustained an injury to his hamstring muscle and as a result was a little wayward with direction. The opposition were dismissed for a well below par score on a sticky wicket due to preceding rain. Quins lost quite a number of wickets in their successful attempt at winning the match, which provided an ideal opportunity to gauge the skills of newly acquired players.

The first team take on Verulam Cricket Club’s first side at Verulam on Sunday, 29 September.

Training for seniors has moved from the Sunday slot to Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 4pm, due to commencement of league matches. A club meeting will be held at the usual venue at 6pm on Thursday 26 September, all members are welcome to attend.
