Hotties running strong after 25 years

Hotties, a social ladies running club celebrated 25 years this month.

HOTTIES social ladies running club celebrated its 25th anniversary this month.

Hotties was founded by Dawn Kerr and Jenny van der Vyfer in 1988 as a branch of the oldest Hash in Africa, the Durban Hash.

Hash is an international social running club which originated in Malaysia in 1938. The Hash is based on the traditional paper chase idea, with Hash being widely regarded as a “drinking club with a running problem,” joked member Wendy Hall.

Durban Hotties celebrated their 25th year on Sunday 8 September with a celebratory party at the Beachwood Mangrove Swamps. Hotties average pack consists of about 20 women per run, they meet every second Tuesday at a different venue in the greater Durban area. Walkers are also invited to join. Contact Wendy on 0722599880 or email: sejh@mweb.co.za or Maureen on 0824210996 or email: liz_mej@yahoo.co.uk to join the Hotties.
