Stage set for downhill longboarders
Don't miss the action at this weekend's Urban Descent longboarding event in Glenwood.

SOUTH Africa’s best longboard skateboarders will head to Glenwood to compete in the inaugural Urban Descent race to be held on Alan Paton Road this Sunday.
The event will reward riders for their best times taken to complete the challenging route which spans over 1km in length. Riders are expected to reach up to 65km/h at certain points of the route. The Urban Descent route will start in Maze Road descending right into JB Marks Road (old Chelmsford) towards Glenwood Boys’ High School along Alan Paton Road.
Top contenders include Ricki Allardice (Cape Town), Jed Kenny (Durban) and Stuart Purchase (Durban). Categories include open men’s, junior boys 1, junior boys 2 and open ladies. Action kicks off at 9am with finals set for 1pm. Prizes include R5 000 in cash as well as prizes from Quiksilver, Gunslinger, GoPro, DC Shoes, Glenwood Village Music, Blue Dolphin Resort, Corner Café and Sportsmans Warehouse.
Entries to participate in the event are open to the public at R100 per division at www.quiksilver.co.za/urbandescent. The public is welcome to attend the event free of charge to watch the action unfold throughout the day.
