Cows to make a splash at Midmar

Swimmers to take on Midmar Mile for CHOC.

A TOTAL of 23 swimmers, eight of them novices, will tackle the Midmar Mile (8 to 9 February) on behalf of The Cows, a fundraising arm of CHOC (Childhood Haemotology Oncology Clinics).

The swimmers, who range in age from ten upwards, will be splashing their way through the water in their bright cow print swimming costumes to raise money and awareness for the non-profit organisation which specialises in the care and treatment of children who suffer from cancer.

“It is not a race – we are doing it for the children, our super heroes. The aim of the day is to raise awareness and funds for them,” said Lynne Macrae.

Julia Varty (12), one of the swimmers who is doing the Midmar for the first time said, ” I am swimming for Choc to raise funds for children with cancer and I chose the Midmar Mile because it’s a challenge that I’ve always wanted to take on”.

If you are interested in swimming on behalf of the cows or getting involved in this wonderful inititiative, email the cows at daisy@thecows.co.za and become involved in the herd and make a difference!
