Sasha-Lee swims for charity
A Durban swimmer will take on the Midmar Mile to raise funds for The Sunflower Fund.
SWIMMER, Sasha-Lee Nordengen, will take on the Midmar Mile on Sunday where she aims to raise funds for The Sunflower Fund.
The 16-year-old pupil of Durban Girls’ College will compete in the event on Sunday, taking on 1.6km to raise funds for this organisation which aims to build the Bone Marrow Registry in South Africa. The next Tuesday she will take part in the Midmar 10km which is also doubling up as the South African open water nationals where she will swim the women’s open 10km. But it doesn’t end there, on the Wednesday she will take part in the Midmar 5km which is also doubling up as the South African Open Water Nationals where she will swim the women’s open 5km.
Sasha-Lee said she hopes that while she is swimming in pursuit of fulfilling her own dreams, she is able to help others in pursuing their hopes by raising money and awareness for The Sunflower Fund which assists children and young adults who are diagnosed with leukaemia.
