Good win for Quins
Quins' first team beat Tongaat in its challenge league match at the weekend.

UMBILO Harlequins Cricket club played three matches at the weekend.
The first team ended its season against Tongaat on Sunday morning. Openers Dylan Labuschagne who scored 53 runs and Kevin Kettle who compiled 19 runs wasted no time in setting up a partnership of about 60 runs prior to the conclusion of the 11th over. Tyrelle Smith scored 13 runs and Sheldon Swanepoel scored 10 in the middle order to aide Quins to a defendable tally of 130 runs.
Quins’ slow bowlers caused a great deal of stress to a very weak opposition batting line-up, whose general insecure defensive technique lead to their ultimate demise at 61 runs in 15 overs. This was almost exclusively through the endeavours of left arm wrist spinner Dylan Labuschagne who took four wickets for 22 runs in four overs, right arm wrist spinner Dieter Liebenberg who claimed three wickets for 18 runs in four overs and fast bowler Kevin Kettle who captured two wickets for 22 runs in four overs.
Quins achieved victory by 69 runs, winning two of their group matches.
Other team results: Quins 4ths vs Hillary Malvern 4. Hillary Malvern 4 scored 206 runs (Clinton Abrahams 4/29; Donavan Steele 3/31; Clinton Abrahams 54 runs; JP Dreyer 29 runs; Jarryd Murgatroyd 11 runs). Quins 4 lost by 66 runs.
Quins 5ths vs Phoenix 5. Quins 5 made 109 runs (Jean Marc Roets 10 runs; Sheldon Baxter 31 runs; Daryn Moffitt 12 runs; Huey Naicker 2/15). Phoenix 5 won by six wickets.
Members are to be aware that the season’s league commitments have not been concluded as the third, fifth, sixth and U11 sides which all had one or two matches postponed from 6 and 13 October 2013, have had these matches re-scheduled to be played out on the weekend of 29 and 30 March.
The club’s annual awards evening will be at the combined Fynnland Sports Club on Friday 28 March at 6 pm.
