Quin’s to elect new committee

All members are urged to attend the AGM of the Umbilo Harlequins Cricket Club.

UMBILO Harlequins Cricket Club’s annual general meeting takes place at Lt King Park, Fynnland on Thursday 29 May at 6pm.

All members must attend as a committee will be elected for the up-coming season and strategy for the new season will be devised. The club will likely enter six senior teams, one having Saturday fixtures and five Sunday league matches. It is hoped to enter U11 and U13 junior sides in the Durban and District Cricket Union’s Sunday morning youth leagues. The club seeks a person to manage an U13 team.

While the first and second teams ended their seasons in the lower half of their respective final logs, all other teams, the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and U11s, were positioned high up in their leagues with the U11 team being extremely unfortunate not to have won their south youth league.

Those interested in cricket during the off season can check out the winter league tournament currently being played out every Sunday at Siripat Road fields one, two and three. The tournament consists of 16 teams, played in the usual 20 over format, coloured clothing, four piece, white balls, official umpires and scorers. The tournament has reached the super eight phase with one more league match remaining. Thereafter, quarter finals, semi-finals and grand finals throughout the first half of June.
