World Club ProAm returns to Durban Country Club

THE second hosting of the 'PGA of SA', the Mercedes Benz World Club ProAm in KZN, which was held from 14 to 21 February, ended on high note at the Durban Country Club when local and international PGA professionals and their amateurs took to the renowned undulating fairways to play the final 18 holes in the tournament's home stretch.

It was a career highlight finish for Swedish title defender, Henrik Engdahl from the Crete Golf Club in Greece, who reported playing his best round of golf and held onto the title for the second consecutive year. The Durban Country Club team, sponsored by Enviroshore Oil Solution Specialists, was led by Club PGA professional, Francois de Lange, who played alongside three amateurs, Grant McKenzie, John Terry Lloyd and Gavin Brown. After an exhilarating four rounds of golf, the team finished on their home course with 393 points, placing them 22 out of 32 teams.

Ian Randell, the Chief Executive of the PGAs of Europe, who was in South Africa as a guest of the tournament, said, “I am very impressed with the calibre of the tournament and that of the the host golf courses. This event will be sanctioned by the PGAs of Europe and will feature on our international calendar as a premier tournament.”
