Excitement builds as Comrades draws near
Excitement builds as runners get to the Comrades exhibition for Sunday's ultimate marathon.
EXCITEMENT fills the air at the Durban Exhibition Centre, as runners from all over the world, South Africa and Durban converge for the Bonitas Comrades Exhibition ahead of the ultimate marathon on Sunday.
Gideon Makofane told Berea Mail, while this year will be his eighth Comrades Marathon, he still has the excitement of his first marathon. “Each year it just gets better, I feel so good, I’m always ready for it, even if they say lets run tomorrow, I’ll be ready,” he said after collecting his race number at the exhibition.
First time Comrades runner, Valencia Malefahlo could not contain her excitement at attempting the ultra marathon this year, she was with her biggest fan, friend, Busisiwe Shongwe.
A large contingent of student runners from around the country were also vibrantly cheering their runners ahead of the big marathon.
