Wave riders take to the ocean

Competitors from all over the country arrived in Durban at the weekend to take part in the KZN Waveski Association event.

KZN Waveski Association hosted an event at the weekend with competitors coming from all over the country to take part.

Saturday at Dairy Beach Durban was a dramatic day of competition in tough onshore conditions and did not stop the top four men from battling out the round robin heats to make the final round of the KZN National Waveski Open Championship.In first place was Bruce Viaene (Border), second was Duran Martin (KZN), third was Ryan Griffith (KZN) and in fourth place was Mike Wessels (WP).

The women’s division was just as competitive, and it was good to have so many women back in the water. South Coast local Janelle Rademeyer’s fearless attitude showed domination once again, and she took the top spot. Second was Allison Wewege, third was Candice Dixon and in fourth place was Kim Griffith Jones.

The top four women were Janelle Rademeyer, Allison Wewege, Candice Dixon and Kim Griffith Jones.
