Savages Challenge winners

Runners from in and around Durban took on the Savages 21.1km/10km Challenge on Sunday.

RUNNERS and walkers pounded the streets of Morningside on Sunday, in the Savages 21.1km/10km Challenge.

The winner of the Open Men’s category for the 21.1km event was Mziwenkosi Mjaja from Nedbank AC, who completed his run in a time of 1:13:13. Lindokuhle Ntuli from Hollywoodbets AC won the Men 35-39 age group in 1:16:39 and Simphiwe Zulu, fellow club team member, was first in Men 40-49 age group with a time of 1:15:24.

In the Men 50-59 age group, Maxed Elite AC member Michael Ndlovu was first in in a time of 1:23:11 and in the Men 60-69 age group, Gordon Truluck from Team Vitality came first in a time of 1:50:055. Les Smith from Westville AC took first place in the Men 70+ age group in a time of 2:01:34, and the Men Junior category winner was Tristan Booysen from Newlands AC with 2:00:41.

The winner of the Open Women’s 21.1km race, Stephane Maingard from Faku Chiefs AC was first in a time of 1:35:17. Alison Uys from Get Fit KZN was first in the Women 35-39 age category, with a time of 1:45:25 and Lauren Calenborne from Westville AC was the winner of the Women 40-49 age group, with 1:43:52. In the Women 50-59 category, Roshini Natasen from Highway AC was in first position in a time of 1:52:13, and Pat Fisher from Stella AC took first spot in the Women 60-69 age group in a time of 2:09:00. Maureen Parry from Chiltern AC was first in the Women 70+ category in a time of 2:33:35.

In the 10km race, Sicelo Dludla from Orcas Academy was the winner in the Men Open category in a time of 00:36:22 and Senzo Mbele from Chatsworth AC was first in the Men 35-39 category with 00:40:17. In the Men 40-49 category, Siyabonga Ngidi from Nedbank AC was first in a time of 00:40:10 and Wayne Scott from PDAC took first spot with a time of 00:38:37 in the Men 50-59 category. Phillip van Niekerk from Stella AC was first in the Men 60-69 category in a time of 00:50:44 and Thor Jensen (no club) was first in the Men 70+ category in a time of 1:05:08. The Men Junior category winner was Jabulani Majombozi from Boxer Superstore AC in 00:38:18.

Robyn Greyling from Get Fit KZN took first spot in the Women’s Open 10km event with 00:45:30 as well as the 35-39 age category. Brenda Naidoo from Chiltern AC was first in the Women 40-49 age category in a time of 00:50:24 and Michelle Sims from PDAC was top of the Women 50-59 category with 00:48:23. In the Women 60-69 age category, Sheree Kirsten from Westville AC was first in a time of 00:54:16 and Ann Waterson from Amanzimtoti AC was first in the Women 70+ category with 1:26:28. The Junior Women winner was Casey Stanley from Chitern AC in a time of 00:51:48.
