Reflecting on the journey of Submission Kings, founder Justin Ferrier shared his excitement about bringing the event back to Durban.
“Submission Kings started in Durban, and after many successful events in Johannesburg, my partner Alastair Bishop and I decided to answer the Durban call again,” Ferrier said.
“The energy and passion in Durban’s grappling community have always been unmatched, and we’re thrilled to return to where it all began. Submission Kings 18 isn’t just about the competition. It’s an opportunity to engage with a thriving community of grapplers and combat sports enthusiasts. With the level of skill on display, attendees can expect to walk away inspired by the passion and precision of the athletes.
“At the heart of Submission Kings 18 lies the most coveted prize: The Golden Rash Guard, awarded to the champion of their respective absolute divisions. Whether competing in the Submission Kings, or Submission Queens divisions, this ultimate symbol of dominance represents the pinnacle of grappling achievement and is a goal every competitor strives to attain.

“Our headline sponsor has added an extra layer of excitement to the competition by putting up an incredible R10 000 cash prize for the Men’s +80kg Absolute Division winner. The champion of this division will not only take home the Golden Rash Guard but also a generous cash reward, making the stakes even higher for competitors,” said Ferrier.
Tickets are available online at Quicket and can also be purchased at the door. The event will be streamed live on the Submission Kings Youtube channel, with the Submission Kids event being streamed to the Supersport Schools App.
