Hollywoodbets 10km opens entries with new digital registration

Hollywoodbets 10km launches a new digital entry platform as registrations open for the 2026 race in Durban and Johannesburg.

A SMOOTHER and faster way to enter this year’s Hollywoodbets 10km has been unveiled by organisers as entries open today (April 1) with a new digital registration platform ready to take off.

The upgraded system marks a significant shift for the popular race, which takes place in Durban and Johannesburg, and is expected to attract up to 25 000 runners in 2026.

Designed to eliminate common sign-up frustrations, the new website aims to streamline the entire entry process while improving communication with participants.

“This new platform makes sign-up simpler and more runner friendly,” said Hollywood Athletics Club manager Brett Goodwin. “Runners will get better communication, quicker updates, and an all-round easier registration experience.”

He said the system was developed in partnership with BET Software, whose technical expertise underpinned the platform’s functionality and user-focused design. “BET Software really drove the innovation on this project.

“Their technical expertise helped us build something that’s efficient and user friendly. It ties directly into the Hollywood Group’s commitment to innovation and investing back into the athletics ecosystem,” said Goodwin.

While the digital upgrade signals a more modern approach, organisers say the event remains committed to inclusivity.

Entry fees range between R180 and R250 for the August event, with both licensed and temporary runners catered for, alongside a 5km fun run option.

“We are excited about how much the Hollywoodbets 10km has grown. Each year we see more runners joining us from Durban and across the country. This year, we are expecting 15 000 entries in Durban and 10 000 in Johannesburg,” said Goodwin.

With entries open and a new platform in place, demand is expected to surge as runners sign up for what promises to be a bigger, more accessible 2026 edition.

“What matters for us is keeping the race open and accessible to everyone, whether you are running with a club or joining as a temporary licence holder. Families are a big part of this event too. Last year, 40% of our runners were temporary licence holders, and we love seeing that mix,” said Goodwin.
