Cash-in-transit van blown up near Sherwood
The robbery on the N3 westbound near Sherwood has resulted in the carriageway being closed in both directions.

A cash-in-transit robbery occurred on the N3 westbound near Sherwood this afternoon (July 18).
A police officer, cash-in-transit guards, and some bystanders are receiving medical attention after the cash van was bombed on the N3, Sherwood offramp.
ALS Paramedics is on the scene. Garrieth Jamieson of ALS Paramedics reported, “Just before 17:00 a cash vehicle was blown up, on top of Sherwood bridge.
“The vehicle is currently engulfed in flames, and we await the fire department to extinguish the flames. Our members are attending to two guards and a couple of bystanders.”

SAPS, Durban Metro, and Homelands Security are on the scene.
The security guards reportedly sustained minor injuries. The police officer was treated and transported to hospital.
The N3 is closed in both directions to allow the investigation to take place.
The suspects are reportedly still at large. Motorists are advised to avoid the freeway, in both directions of the carriageway.
