Deadly Boksburg toxic gas leak – in pictures

Grieving families, friends and community members described how people died while trying to escape the scene of the gas leak.

At least 17 people, including three children, died and more than 16 were hospitalized when toxic gas leaked from cylinders linked to illegal mining activities. The tragic incident occurred on July 5 in the Angelo informal settlement in Boksburg.
