Bronwyn Strydom has completed 20 Comrades Marathons since debuting in 2000.

Boksburg Athletic Club (BAC) has elected Bronwyn Strydom as its new chairperson following its AGM at Boksburg City Stadium.

The Comrades Marathon double green number holder takes over the reins from outgoing chairperson David Jones, who was thanked for his commitment and contribution to the club during his tenure.

Following her election, Strydom, who has 14 Comrades bronze medals, three Bill Rowans, two Vic Claphams and one Robert Mtshali medal, expressed her gratitude to members for their support and confidence, while acknowledging the work done by Jones and Sheree Rogers Chapman in serving the club.

The runner, who has a Comrades best of 08:48:54 from the 2009 down-run, also expressed her hope that, working together, the club would continue to grow and go from strength to strength.

The new leadership structure will see Chapman continue in her role as club president, while Jones takes up the position of vice-president.

Leon Muller was elected vice-chairperson, with Teresa Peyerl retaining the treasurer portfolio. Deirdré Ferreira was elected cross-country captain, while Hilton Arralappan will serve as track and field captain.
