#2026LocalElections: Birthday girl also celebrates being a first-time voter today
She highlighted cable theft and frequent substation fires as pressing issues in her ward.
Atlasville’s Natalie Kretschmann spent her 20th birthday queuing for hours to exercise her right to vote at the Atlasville Tennis Club today (November 4).
The first-time voter arrived at the voting station shortly after 08:00.
Three hours later, she was still standing in the hot sun but remained in high spirits, despite having mixed emotions.
“I’m excited to vote, but I’m also nervous because it’s my first time voting. I’m usually a little bit nervous about doing things I haven’t done before,” she said.
“I believe safety and healthcare should be improved for everyone.”
She highlighted cable theft and frequent substation fires as pressing issues in her ward, adding it’s important to vote because it can help make the country a better and safer place.
Apart from the long queues, the voting process was proceeding smoothly at the voting station.
