Resident aims to start poltical party

Richard Makitla, a Boksburg North resident, has lost faith in South Africa's ruling party, and is trying to do something about it by intending to form a political party called Majita African Party (Map).

He cites empty promises and corruption in government as the driving force behind his wish to establish a political party.
Majita means gentleman, and Makitla believes that true gentlemen and women can unite behind a common goal.
“I want to introduce the Map initiative to the people of Boksburg, and see if we can build up enough support to officially register the party with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).
“I want to know if the community shares our views and will support us in our goal to put words into action,” says Makitla.
“Our government just talks and talks without any progress ever being made and never respond to the peoples’ complaints. Our organisation’s dream is to serve the people by ending the talking and false promises.”
He adds that he is garnering support from some corners in Boksburg North, including shopowners.
“We think that the time has come to vote out the people who are always failing us and make us, as Africans, fight against each other.
“This is now the right time to represent ourselves without fear or favour,” he says.
“The time has come to mould our continent into the shape it deserves.”
