Ramaphosa fire victims appeal for help

A family of five who lost everything when fire ripped through their shack, in Ramaphosa, on Thursday, July 4 appeals for donations.

Jerminah Mokhutle and her husband, Patrick, were at work when their shack was destroyed.

Only their daughter, Mpho (7) was inside the shack, but she survived uninjured.

The family has now been left with just the clothes they were wearing.

Their corrugated iron-sheet shack was located at the back of an RDP house, which belongs to their landlord.

The goods destroyed by the blaze is estimated at about R50 000

It is alleged that the fire was started by a power extension socket.

The family is asking for donation of materials to rebuild their shack, and appeal to city officials for a piece of land to rebuild their home.

“We request anyone who can assist us with any donation, so we can survive,” says Jerminah.

In the meantime, they are staying at their landlord’s house for shelter.

Anyone wishing to donate goods to help the family may phone Jerminah on 078 836 5560 or her husband Patrick on 074 447 7269.
