Greg meets his new wheels at K90 Centre’s Meat World

The competition required customers to spend R500 or more in a single transaction at a Meat World branch.

“I thought it was a prank call, so I didn’t tell anyone.”

This is what Greg Mackal of Malvern said of receiving a call on a Saturday morning to say he’d won a car in a Meat World competition.

The competition was held in conjunction with Jacaranda FM.

When Greg received another call a week or so ago from the radio station it became clear he was the lucky Boksburg store winner in the Meat World Suzuki Swift competition.

Nineteen other branches also gave away the same car.

Greg collected his new wheels at the K90 Centre branch on October 17 and had a quick chat with the Boksburg Advertiser.

The competition required customers to spend R500 or more in a single transaction at a local Meat World branch between June 12 and September 30, fill out an entry form and drop it into the in-store box.

“My brother-in-law, who lives in Boksburg, and I were at the store shopping for potjiekos ingredients. He gave me the till slip and said, ‘Enter, maybe you win the car’.

“I only told my brother-in-law after the second phone call that I’d actually won the car. He’s very happy for me.”

Along with the car, Meat World threw in a hamper of goodies for padkos and braai inspiration.

Twenty branches ran the competition, and all handed the keys to a brand new Suzuki Swift 1.2 GL manual over to their winners on the same morning, with a representative from CFAO Mobility also in attendance.

The Meat World wrapping on the car can be removed at the winner’s expense at any time or by Meat World at no cost after a year, Greg said, adding he hadn’t decided what to do yet.
