Post Office mediation ongoing

The SA Post Office is optimistic that the strike by casual postal workers will be resolved soon following productive discussions at the council for mediation and arbitration.

This is according to Lungile Lose, spokesperson for the SA Post Office.

“Mail processing began to return to normal at mail-processing facilities in Johannesburg and the East and West Rand over the weekend,” he says.

Lose adds that a number of post offices in the Tshwane area could not open for business as a result of strike action.

“Customers are advised to go to www.postoffice.co.za to check for outlets that are not open.”

The SA Post Office expects to catch up with the backlog in the Johannesburg area within five days and in the Tshwane area, within 10 days.

Casual postal workers in Gauteng recently went on strike to lobby for permanent appointment.
