According to Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) spokesperson Kobedi Mokheseng, the incident happened at 8:58am, at entrance five of the mall.
Four vehicles were involved in the incident.
“It is alleged that after the driver accidentally hit the female pedestrian, she tried to apply her brakes in shock but instead accelerated and collided with three parked vehicles.
“The pedestrian was declared dead on the scene,” says Mokheseng.
Mokheseng says the driver was accompanied by a licensed man.
A case has been opened at the Boksburg North Police for further investigation.
The East Rand Mall is still looking into the matter.
