Body in the Lake: Investigation brings new light on crime
The Boksburg police have renewed an appeal for the public's help in identifying and solving the murder of the woman whose body was recovered from the Boksburg Lake.
The woman’s naked body was found floating in the Boksburg Lake, close to the shore near the Boksburg Library, on Sunday night, January 24.
It was initially reported that the body bore no visible wounds. Police then registered an inquest docket since preliminary findings for the cause of death indicated drowning.
Now according to the police they are handling a murder investigation, as further investigation has revealed the woman was most likely strangled and hit with a hard object over the head before her body was dumped in the water.
Police have, however, not yet made a breakthrough in the murder.
There has also been no new developments in respect of the woman’s identity.
Police have so far received at least two calls from the public and the information received was examined by the investigators.
The woman is described as a white woman her age estimated to be between 50 and 60 and has a tattoo on her right shoulder.
