Man sentenced to 15 years for robbing cyclist of his bike

Robbing a cyclist of his bicycle and a pair of shoes has earned a 47-year-old Jet Park man 15 years’ imprisonment.

The sentence was handed down to Joseph Molebala on July 9 after the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court convicted him of aggravated robbery on May 29.

Armed with an axe, Molebala assaulted and robbed Climat Mathebula of his belongings on November 22, 2016.

He pleaded not guilty to the crime on May 2, but was found guilty on May 29 and sentenced on July 9.

Magistrate Colbert Ramufhufhi presided and prosecutor Takalani Mukhumo represented the state.
