Jump in to give 1 000 kiddies a Christmas to remember in Boksburg

At least 1 000 underprivileged children are expected to have a ball at this year’s Bethlehem Huis van Brood Christmas Party.

According to one of the directors of the Boksburg NPO, Hettie van Zyl, they treated 850 children last year and this year they anticipate the number will be higher as word spreads every year about this incredible initiative on community groups, even drawing visiting families from as far as Cape Town.

The event has been hosted by Bethlehem since 2018.

Of course, the party would not be possible without sponsors and generous donors.

“This party isn’t even only for the underprivileged – it’s for all our kids,” Hettie said.

“As we all know, many parents are unemployed and can’t afford to buy something for their children at Christmas, which is why we take hands with businesses and the community to give these children a Christmas to remember.”

The age groups catered for are newborn to 17 years and Bethlehem directors are requesting donations of the following this year:
• Soft drinks
• Sweets
• Ice lollies and ice creams
• Popcorn
• Frozen chips
• Chicken nuggets
• Vienna’s
• Toys – secondhand good condition or new, including soft balls
• Stationery
• Jumping castles
• Water balloons
• Face painters
• Cash donation into Bethlehem bank account

The Christmas party takes place at the Van Dyk Park Shopping Centre from 10:30 to 17:30 on December 5.

There will also be live entertainment by Betty Jean, Franco van Zyl, Vellies, DJ Boertjie and other local artists.

Corporates and other sponsors are welcome to put up branding at the party.
