Boksburg police station closed after officers test positive for Covid-19
The police stations was closed this morning after officers tested positive for Covid-19, nearby police stations are being used to offer services to the public, and provincial SAPS units are deployed to assist in the precinct.
All communities serviced by the Boksburg police station are advised that the police station has been temporarily closed after two of its members tested positive for the Covid-19 virus yesterday.
Members of the community are advised to call 10111 for all emergencies and complaints which will be attended to by officers from the different provincial SAPS units who have been deployed to assist for the duration of the closure. Patrols and other outside services will continue.
The station’s buildings, including the detective offices across the street, are closed for decontamination and those police officers who came into contact with the affected members have been directed to undergo testing as a precaution.
“The community service centre (CSC), the firearm registration centre (FRC) and the detective branch offices will not be accessible while the buildings are closed. “We have made arrangements with our nearby Boksburg police stations to assist our clients who want to access those services, including all emergencies and complaints. People can seek help from the Boksburg North and Reiger Park police stations,” said the Boksburg SAPS station Commander Col Daniel Baloyi.
The telephone lines at the station will not be accessible for the duration of closure, and should there be any challenges, Baloyi advised the public to contact Lieut Col Maebela on 082 461 3826, and Lieut Col Ntswane at the detective branch 082 568 4675.
Baloyi said the police station was expected to open its doors soon after all the precautionary measures have been concluded. The community will be informed when the station will be operational again. @MthuphaFanie
