A Vosloorus mother and her daughter have become the latest victims of gender-based violence after they were both killed by the daughter’s boyfriend.
According to Gauteng police spokesperson Brig Mathapelo Peters, the 27-year-old boyfriend shot and killed his 21-year-old girlfriend and her 43-year-old mother at their home in Nguni Section on August 25.
The girlfriend’s sister was also rushed to hospital after being wounded.
“It is alleged the suspect arrived at the house and, without saying a word, fired shots at the victims,” Peters said.
Hours later, the boyfriend committed suicide by hanging himself at a warehouse in Somalia Park. The firearm, believed to be the murder weapon, was found near his body.
The police have opened cases of double murder, attempted murder and an inquest.
