Longest-standing EACCI member commemorated
Esther van Zyl is the go-to person on the history and daily operations of the chamber
Members from the Ekurhuleni Aerotropolis Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EACCI) recently held a surprise party for one of their longest-standing members, Esther van Zyl.
She has been involved with the chamber for 23 years.
Members gathered at the EACCI office in Commissioner Street for a special lunch to mark the occasion.
Speaking to the Advertiser, van Zyl said the organisation has become her home and she enjoys her work as a secretary.
“I am so happy and I feel honoured because it shows that my contributions towards the organisation has been noticed,” van Zyl said.
Sharing her vast knowledge with the new generation, van Zyl has started mentoring Tshepo Maseko, an intern in the organisation.
During the special lunch, the chairperson of EACCI, Derek Fox, hailed van Zyl as an angel.
“There were times where she didn’t receive any salary because of the financial battles the organisation was faced with but she kept on coming to work as normal. She works tirelessly, helping the less fortunate in many projects to empower them,” Fox said.
EACCI is a NPO serving businesses and the community in the City of Ekurhuleni.
EACCI acts as a collective lobbying voice for businesses while empowering small businesses to seek and share advice, join events and network with peers.
