Mapleton man gets 15 years’ imprisonment for armed robbery

Makau's case was recently heard in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court

Peter Makau (32) was on September 21 sentenced to a 15-year jail term for armed robbery in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court.

This comes after the 32-year-old robbed two men who were delivering food items at a local tuck shop in Mapleton in Luvuyo Street in January 2019.

According to Dawn Park police spokesperson Const Nkemeleng Mabula, while the 30-year-old complainant waited in the vehicle for his colleague who went inside the shop, he suddenly saw Makau pointing a firearm at his colleague while coming towards the vehicle.

“The complainant who was also held at gunpoint was then ordered to hand over money, vehicle keys, bag and a wallet to Makau. He fled the scene in a silver Opel Corsa bakkie,” Mabula said.

The docket was then assigned to Det Sgt Milton Hadebe whose thorough investigation led to the arrest of the suspect in Mapleton on February 2019.
