SPCA cheering animals for 70 years

The SPCA is aiming to raise R100 000 with the Christmas Cheer Fund

The Boksburg SPCA recently launched its Christmas Cheer Fund and wants to make it bigger and better this year because it is also the society’s 70th birthday.

Residents and businesses in Boksburg are urged to come on board to support the society in its efforts to raise much-needed funds for the festive season.

Every year, in the build up to the festive season, the SPCA finds its kennels full to the brim with surrendered, stray and abandoned animals.

The purpose of the Cheer Fund is to raise funds to cater for all the furry critters that must be fed and to give some Christmas treats to the pets in kennels over the festive season.

To make this extra special, the society has linked its target of R100 000 to four very important projects for the betterment of the society and the many animals they care for. They are planning to buy a six-metre container for food storage (R35 000), a new security camera system (R15 000), complete the adoption row kennel refurbishment (R20 000) and do 70 outreach sterilisations (R31 500).

“We are appealing to our loyal supporters as well as the Boksburg business community, that, in celebration of our 70th birthday, please show support for our 2020 Cheer Fund with a donation of R70 or multiples thereof,” Boksburg SPCA manager Vicky Finnemore said.

Should individuals or companies be prepared to sponsor or donate towards one of the projects listed above in celebration of their 70th birthday, they should email Sue Beadon at secretary@boksburgspca.co.za

All donations qualify for a S18A tax certificate.

Donations are welcome via EFT (Absa, branch code 632005, account no: 4046388139, ref: surname-Christmas Cheer), walk-in cash or card payments at the Boksburg SPCA reception or via Zapper on their Facebook page (Boksburg SPCA New FB Page).

Should you wish to link a message or remember a current or past pet with your donation to the Christmas Cheer Fund or any of the projects, email details to: secretaty@boksburgspca.co.za with proof of payment.

As in previous years, the Advertiser will recognise donors (be it an individual, school, organisation or a business) in the newspaper over the next few weeks.

Email a copy of your proof of payment to ntombis@caxton.co.za so that your donation can be acknowledged in the Advertiser.

The fund will run until the end of December.
