Assault offence officer faces the law

The SAPS officer recently caught on camera beating up Reiger Park Pick ‘n Pay owner Douglas Cassell re-appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on October 22 and was granted bail of R2 000.

The officer, 29-year-old Const Michael Sei of Sophiatown SAPS, is facing charges of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault with threats as well as the handling of a firearm under the influence.

Sei was seen assaulting the victim after arriving at the store on the evening of October 12 and allegedly demanding video footage of his son, who was said to have been kidnapped. His son has since been found.

The matter was postponed to November 23.
