Police officers arrest suspects for business robbery

Three suspects arrested while five others fled the scene

Members of the Boksburg Crime Prevention have arrested two suspects during a business robbery at Tiger Brands, Boksburg East, on November 10.

When police officers responded to the business robbery complaint, they found eight suspects who were allegedly at the guard room with one of the security guards handcuffed.

According to Const Justice Ramaube, Boksburg SAPS standby communications officer, when the men realised that the police were on to them, they ran in different directions while the police gave chase.

“One of the suspects tried to point a firearm at one of the police officers but he then surrendered to be arrested. Another 29-year-old suspect was arrested during the chase and was in possession of an unlicensed firearm. A third man was taken in for questioning,” Ramaube said.

Ramaube said five of the remaining suspects fled the scene.

The arrested men were detained at the Boksburg SAPS and were charged with evading arrest, business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunitions.

Investigations into the matter is still continuing. Suspects will appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
