Zanothando wins St Dom’s Prestige Award

St Dom's learners continue to excel

Zanothando Kubheka walked away with the Prestige Award during St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls’ recently held matric awards ceremony.

The award goes to learners who have achieved full colours in all three disciplines, namely academics, sport and cultural.

Khubeka was joined by her fellow learners in being recognised for their hard work as the school acknowledged and paid tribute to outstanding matrics in a challenging year.

A statement from the school reads: “We congratulate the award winners and top academic achievers of 2020. Many of these girls have strived to do their best in order to achieve academically and to be a part of the Top 10. We believe this represents the true spirit of our school.”

Other winners:

Top Artist Award

Otherwise known as the Booyens Trophy, this year’s accolade was shared between Melissa Gianonne and Lauren Meredith. The award is for the top artist in FET phase from 2018 to 2020.

Advanced Programme Mathematics

Morgan Robinson picked up the AP mathematics honour.

Principal’s Award

The Principal’s Award, awarded to Zandi Mlilo, is awarded to the girl who embraces the spirit of St Dominic’s. She is not necessarily a member of the executive or an achiever academically, culturally or in sport. Instead, she has a positive attitude, is hardworking and has perseverance, often in difficult circumstances. She is always willing to help and shows promise to make a success of life after school.
