Donations needed towards making elderly Christmas party a success

Elderly organisation provides care and support to the elderly residents of Windmill Park

The Masizakhe Family Centre, in Windmill Park, will host their fourth Christmas celebration on November 20 and are appealing for help to make it a success.

The organisation, which operates as an NPO and which takes care of the elderly, is appealing for donations towards Christmas gift hampers to grannies on the day.

Items needed for the gift hamper include body lotion, bath soap, tooth brush, roll-on deodorant, Vaseline, face towels, snacks and sweets.

Appealing to local companies and individuals, founder of Masizakhe Family Centre Nolufefe Mzwakali, said: “For some of the elderly people this Christmas party will be the only time during the festive season they will have the opportunity to get a gift. We appeal to anyone who would like to help us extend a helping hand to the elderly.”

The centre has about 26 elderly members who meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Revelation of Christ Apostolic Mission church from 10am, where they participate in hand crafts, song and exercise.
