Cop to return to court next year

The matter of the SAPS officer who was caught on camera assaulting a Pick n Pay owner in Reiger Park has been postponed to February 3.

The 29-year-old Const Michael Sei, of Sophiatown SAPS, is facing charges of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault with threats, as well as the handling of a firearm under the influence.

Sei was seen assaulting the victim after arriving at the store on the evening of October 12 and allegedly demanding video footage of his son, who was said to have been kidnapped. His son has since been found.

Sei remains released on bail.
