Local child welfare benefits from company’s generosity

Afrox SHEQ department recently made a generous donation to the Liv Thokomala homes in Villa Liza and Vosloorus, which are managed by the Boksburg Child Welfare.
The company donated household items such as comforters, pillows, towels, irons, kettles and groceries.
According to the operational and standard manager from Afrox, Ben Leshiba, they made the contribution because they wanted to give back to the community.
“Due to the pandemic we couldn’t take the children on a trip as part of our annual Bumbanani Day. However, we still wanted to assist the homes,” Leshiba said.
Director of the local child welfare Vanessa Naidoo-Pillay thanked the company for the contribution.
“Boksburg Child Welfare would like to express its gratitude and appreciation to the Afrox SHEQ department for once again understanding the needs of the children placed at two of the Liv Thokomala homes assigned by Boksburg Child Welfare social workers for supervision.

The donations received will greatly alleviate the financial burden for groceries for the next few months. The household items will assist the foster mothers as they do not have to feel financially constrained during the festive season to upkeep the homes,” the director said.
