Foundation continues to make a difference

The Lazarus Legacy Foundation, which is based in Brakpan and Benoni, has assisted many with grocery hampers and toys during lockdown.

Kivasha Moodley, who works for the NPO in Benoni, said the organisation has distributed well over 1 500 grocery hampers to needy families on the East Rand.

“We assisted many families in need and still continue to do so. We plan on raising more funds to make up an additional 1 000 grocery hampers to distribute to families over the December period,” said Kivasha.

The NPO was also able to spoil over 23 children’s homes, orphanages and children’s disability facilities.

“In total, 5 000 toys were donated to many children’s homes, all thanks to our generous sponsor, GURI SA,” said Kivasha.

The NPO used their mobile clinic to assist local clinics in areas like Kwa-Thema, Vosloorus, Villa Liza and Geluksdal with Covid-19 screening and testing.

“It is only through these opportunities that organisations like ours succeed in helping those who find themselves in unfortunate situations.

“People play a big part in change and if people continue opening their hearts and wallets towards a good, legitimate cause then the war is halfway won,” said Kivasha.

Areas they poured love into are Benoni, Brakpan, Springs, Boksburg, Actonville, Wattville, Villa Liza, Kwa-Thema, Vosloorus and Daveyton.
