The Dawn Park SAPS recently arrested a 32-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.

According to Dawn Park SAPS spokesperson Const Nkemeleng Mabula, while police officers were patrolling around the Villa Liza area they came across a suspicious man carrying a bag.

“When officers searched him they found a firearm as well as 93 live ammunitions. When he was asked to produce a firearm licence he failed to produce it and was arrested,” Mabula said.

The accused was charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.

The firearm will be subjected to a ballistic examination to determine whether or not it was involved in the commission of crimes.

Furthermore, two men were also arrested for possession of drugs.

The trio has appeared in the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court.
