The three men have appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court

The Boksburg North police arrested three men for being in possession of Mandrax drugs worth about R100 000.

The three men were found at Nando’s drive-thru at East Rand Mall on February 12 after members of the Gauteng Crime Intelligence Unit suspected that they were in possession of drugs when spotted leaving Reiger Park.

According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, members of the Gauteng Crime Intelligence Unit alerted the Boksburg North police, and Sgt Pretty Ndlovu and Sgt Frans Ledwaba then rushed to the East Rand Mall where the suspects’ vehicle was parked.

“The two officers approached the trio and asked to search their Maroon Range Rover. Upon the search, officers found 338 Mandrax tablets hidden inside the vehicle and under the vehicle’s spare wheel. An amount of R2 440 was also found inside the vehicle,” Ramaube said.

The men were arrested and charged at the Boksburg North Police Station.

Their vehicle was impounded and will be checked if it was used in any commission of other crimes.

The suspects appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on February 16.
