Local school appeals for back-up generator to prevent class disruptions
The school faces power outages almost every week and needs your help to keep its day-to-day operations afloat during the outages
Oosrand Secondary School is appealing for your help to secure a back-up generator to help prevent operational constraints caused by the perpetual power outages faced in the area.
According to the school governing body, the educational institution suffers serious setbacks during the power cuts it faces almost every week, hampering the teaching and learning activities, among others.
“The hours-long outages constantly leave the admin blocks and classrooms without lighting and lead to inoperative numerous systems powered by electricity, such as the smart boards, computer lab, printers, telephone lines and other educational appliances.
“These outages lead to massive inconveniences, and as the school governing body and on behalf of the learners and teachers, we appeal to any individual, small and major corporate citizens to come to the rescue of the school, by donating power back-up to keep these devices on in case of an outage,” appealed Sheldon Bothas, school governing body chairperson.
