Voter registration for Ward 43 will be held on April 10 and 11.
Residents of Ward 43 are encouraged to register to vote for their new ward councillor in the by-elections on May 19.
Ward 43 consists of Sunward Park, Freeway Park, Klipoortjie, Groeneweide, Windmill Park and Dawn Park.
The ward was previously represented by the DA. The ward seat became vacant as a result of the death of its former councillor, Bruce Reid.
According to the IEC spokesperson Kate Bapela, the outstanding by-elections scheduled to be held on April 21 and May 19 will help to “clear the decks” of vacancies ahead of the local government elections scheduled for between August 4 and November 1.
“The resumption of by-elections is, therefore, one of the final opportunities ahead of the local government elections for the Electoral Commission, political parties, independent candidates and other stakeholders to test their protocols for campaigning, voter registration, voting and counting of ballots while maintaining Covid-19 safety measures,” Bapela said.
