Saved burnt kitten dies

The kitten’s fur was singed and her whiskers were completely burnt off.

A seven-week-old stray kitten that was saved by a good Samaritan has died. Children at the time were trying to burn it.

According to Vicky Finnemore, the kitten suddenly fell ill after it was sent to a vet for medical treatment.

“It stayed there for a week and then the vet phoned us and told us that she had died,” Finnemore said.

The kitten’s rescue comes after Amanda Lesenyeho, who was on her way to visit a friend on February 23, saw a group of children burning the kitten with what appeared to be hot pieces of plastic on the side of the road.

Lesenyeho shouted at them to stop and they ran away.

Amanda Lesenyeho immediately brought the kitten to the SPCA after noticing burn wounds on the kitten’s face, ears, head, tail and paws.

“She took the kitten home where she noticed burn wounds on the kitten’s face, ears, head, tail and paws. The distraught woman arrived at the Boksburg SPCA with the burnt kitty and she named her Zoey,” said Finnemore.

The manager said Zoey’s fur was singed and her whiskers were completely burnt off.

Finnemore has urged parents to educate their children regarding animal welfare as well as how to report cruelty to the SPCA.
